Freida Dyson was born in Bearsden, Glasgow and has lived in a variety of locations from the Outer Hebrides to Australia. However she spent most of her childhood & teenage years in Glasgow and adult life in Cambridge. Her mother's family came from the Isle of Lewis where Freida lived for four of her early years.

For thirty years Freida lived in Cambridge, England with two years in Tasmania and Canberra, Australia. Her home is now in Galloway which she loves for the outstanding beauty of land and seascapes, the rich history and eclectic artistic and craft renaissance that is taking place here. It is also easy to access the Highlands and the Islands of Scotland which provide much of the inspiration for her works.

She took part in various group exhibitions in Cambridge during the 1980s/1990s (where she also had two successful solo exhibitions with the majority of paintings) and exhibits in various galleries across Dumfries & Galloway.

She is a member of a number of art societies and institutions and was President of the Dumfries & Galloway Fine Art Society for 2007/2008. Her paintings are held in private collections in New Zealand, Australia, USA and the UK. Examples of her past and current work are on display in the Arts of Alba studio/gallery in Castle Douglas.

Her third Solo Exhibition was held at Emmanuel College, Cambridge from 27 to 29 March 2009

She has exhibited work for several years during the Dumfries & Galloway Spring Fling   plus (July/August 2009) in the Scottish Showcase Gallery, Kirkcudbright and the (VAS) Visual Arts Scotland exhibition (September/October 2009) at the Gracefield Arts Centre in Dumfries She had a solo exhibition in the Plumed Horse restaurant, Edinburgh from November 2009 to January 2010 and continued in a joint exhibition from January to May 2010.
